THE NORTHERN INUIT SOCIETY

A howling success

Many of our Members Have Dogs other than Northern Inuits that live with them.  Many of these are remarkable animals;

You will find the winners of the forum competitions for Non Northern Inuit of the month here along with a bit about the dog that has won.

This Months Winner is the Lovely Cally

Sadly Cally passed away just a week after she had been nominated as Non NI of the month. She would have been 12 years old in just a couple more weeks.

Having been a part of my life for more than half the time I've been alive Cally and I grew up together. I taught her to sit, to lie down and to stay and she taught me responsibility and what it was like to have a best friend that didn't mind what I looked like or how I was feeling, so long as she was there.

Cally captured the hearts of so many people. She became a local celebrity after her naughty puppyhood full of running away and refusing to come back on her walks. Everybody knew her and everybody loved her. Even people who didn't like dogs would come to give Cally a hug. You'd never meet a more gentle girl. Cally will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her. Life won't be the same without my gorgeous girl, but her memory lives forever.

This Months winner is The Lovely Shaan

This is what Corrie has to say about him

I took on Shaan at 2 years old with no training what so ever. He survived on scraps fed through the front door by neighbours, then was fostered by somone who couldn't give him the time he needed. The only thing he knew was 'sit' and 'paw', he'd clear fields to have a go at another dog. He's now an obedient dog who won't move until told to do so and is as loyal as they come, despite the fact that he was beaten and was put into a shed or garden on his own while his owners went out.

Shaan is 9 now and is still a grumpy buggar but he's my boy and has been with me through thick and thin. There'll never be another one like him, no matter how hard I look.
